You MUST keep on top of your refurbishment schedule when going into any Disney park. I am not saying you plan your vacation around it but definitely know which ones and when.
When you go to make your fastpass reservations you will notice the refurbishment, but it is better to know in advance so you can advise your party.
An example is the Hall of Presidents is closed from 1/17/17 to 6/29/17 for refurbishment.
