Planning a trip to Disney? We need to talk now!
Let’s talk about the pros and cons of each of the categories of rooms and resorts. I also understand that it can also be a budget issue when selecting your rooms. No matter what your budget you can have a great room!!
Let’s start with Disney’s Value Resorts. We have the 3 All Star Resorts- Sports, Music and Movies. These are my least favorite resorts as the bussing can get backed up as then tend to share buses for all 3 resorts. Yet, the All-Star Music does have some suites which makes it more affordable with space for 5-6 people in one room. Next we have Pop Century and Art of Animation. I love Pop Century for the theming, yes I am showing my age.
Also, a perk for both of these resorts is it is on the skyliner. Yes, some people will not want or be able to go on skyliner due to fears. I think it is such a relaxing way to travel and so fast. To me it is much les stressful than the buses. BUT, if bad weather comes in they do not run the skyliner and you are back to buses. The skyliner gets you to Hollywood Studios and Epcot. The value resorts have no table service restaurants but do have cafeteria style. You have multiple pools to choose from but no hot tubs. Most rooms are basic with 2 queen size beds at Pop Century and Art of Animation (except suites have 1 queen and 2 full size beds). Where as the All Star resorts have 2 double beds.
Moderate Resorts are with 2 queen beds and one table service dining available. The rooms are larger than value. You will find pools and hot tubs at these resorts as well. List of moderate resorts are Caribbean beach, Coronado Springs, Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter and the cabins at Fort Wilderness. All moderate resorts, except Caribbean Beach Resort are all buses for transportation. The Caribbean Beach Resort is on the skyliner as well. They are nicer resorts and not as much children themed but definitely very themed. The Riverside Resort has 5th bed option in select rooms. Be aware this is a bed definitely for a child not an adult, small. The 5th bed option is also available at the Caribbean Beach Resort in select rooms.
Deluxe Resorts are the top resorts. Here you have 2 queen bed rooms, some 2 queen bed rooms with daybed, or villas. So many choices and experiences to be had!! The list of deluxe resorts are Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Polynesian, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Boardwalk, Saratoga Springs Resort, Old Key West and Wilderness Lodge. These resorts have at least 2 table service restaurants, multiple pools and hot tubs.
The list of Deluxe Villas are Grand Floridian, Polynesian Villas, Bay Lake Towers, Animal Kingdom Lodge (Jambo house and Kidani village), Saratoga Springs, Boardwalk Villas, Old Key West, Boulder Ridge and Copper Creek at Wilderness Lodge, and Riviera Resort. Many are on monorail-Grand Floridian, Polynesian Resort and Contemporary Resort. Others like Beach Club, Yacht Club and Boardwalk are within walking distance of Epcot and Hollywood Studios or boat for transportation. Here you also will have club level lounges to enjoy, if you book your reservation that way.
It is important to select the best resort for many reasons for your Disney vacation. Let’s talk about the pros and cons of each of them for you and your travel party. Let the adventure begin!!
