Disney Genie+

Great debate for traveling to Disney currently is whether or not to PAY for the Genie+ program. Let’s go into what this actually is and if it is a good match for you.  Don’t forget how this will affect your budget. Disney’s new program is divided into 3 part, 2 of the 3 have a fee attached.

-DISNEY GENIE

-This is a free service provided by Disney through the My Disney experience App on your phone.  There is no fee for this part.  It also includes things like wait times for rides, suggested itineraries for in the parks, mobile ordering and tip board to name a few.  This can be very helpful for planning your day.

-DISNEY GENIE+

-This is a paid service for $15/day/person.  If you are staying on property and purchased your tickets with your room you currently have to purchase Genie+ for each ticket day and each person.  If regular park tickets or annual passholder you can buy for the day you want it.  Let me clarify this.

-You can buy the Disney Genie+ the day you are going into the park (not in advance) as early as 7 AM.

-At the time of purchase you can pick your first ride to use the Genie+ lightning lane.

-You can pick new ones throughout the day as long as passes are available.

-The more popular rides will run out quickest.

-You also get cool Disney filters to use for pictures which is fun!

-INDIVDUAL LIGHTNING LANES

-These are a paid ride pass.  The price for each ride varies by day, park and ride ranging from $8 to $15.  You can only purchase 2 Individual Lightning Lane passes per day per person.  If staying on site you can purchase at 7 AM if off site then once the park officially opens you can purchase.  These too can and do sell out as these are the most popular rides.  They are the top 2 rides in each park

-OTHER OPTIONS

-Do not think you don’t have other options.  You can certainly still wait in the stand by lines for whatever the posted time is.  Rider Switch is still available as is DDAS( Disability Access Service) when appropriate.  You also have virtual queue for the new Ratatouille ride. Make sure you do what is best for your travel group.
