ADULTS ONLY February newsletter

Welcome to A Walk in the Park with Colleen!

This month we are going to talk about “Adults Only”.  What comes to my mind is the cereal commercial for Trix, “Silly Rabbit, Trix’s are for kids”!  I hear this same thing repeatedly from people about Disney.  “Disney is for kids”. I want to dispel that thought now!

Disney is not just for kids, it is wonderful for adults!! I should know, I go regularly.  What I tell people is that as an adult you can go and be an adult or you can go and be a kid again-the choice is yours!
Here is a list of some events you can enjoy as an “adult”:

  • Epcot Food and Wine Festival (Eat and drink your way around the world).  This year the event starts on 8/31 and goes until 11/13! That is a lot of time to set up a couple’s getaway, girlfriend weekend or anything else you want to celebrate or enjoy.

  • Epcot Flower and Garden Festival (Imagine having enough time to really look at all the gardens, topiaries and food booths without being rushed by your children).  They also have some amazing food kiosks set up around world showcase.

  • Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (Yes, adults can dress up and trick or treat through Magic Kingdom, I highly recommend!  I get to be Cruella for a night and love it!!) This event has event only parade and fireworks.  If you have never seen them then I suggest going.  It is also fun to have costumes in your group that all work together- like dressing up as different characters in Peter pan or Alice in Wonderland.

As I said you can go as an adult or go as a kid, I recommend going as a kid and going on some of the great classic rides like:

    • Peter Pans Flight
    • Dumbo
    • Nemo and friends
    • Voyage of the Little Mermaid
    • And so many more, or if you want go on the some thrill rides like:
    • Space Mountain
    • Test Track
    • Rock N Roll Rollercoaster
    • Expedition Everest
    • Just to name a few.

Don’t forget to get your pictures taken with the Disney characters!!  These are your memories and your vacation, enjoy and have fun!!
Ok, so you decided to go as an adult here is a list of some of things you could do:

    • -Spa Treatment
    • -Golf
    • -Go Fishing
    • -Go parasailing
    • -Enjoy the amenities of your deluxe resort

I could keep going on!!   Have you ever seen an “adult” at Disney who transforms like the Tom Hanks character at the end of “Big”, how they go from adult back to a child and the look on their face?? The years melt away and they look and feel just like a kid again. This is what keeps me going back to Disney, over and over again, with my adult family and friends-that face!  The face that just glows, that is such joy, that is love- that is the magic.  Isn’t it your turn to experience that magic for yourself??
